Swiss watch maker Hublot is making 12 awesome piece unique watches with musical group Depeche Mode. Hublot is teaming up with Depeche mode as part of a charity concept to benefit the Teenage Cancer Trust that will take place on February 17, 2010 at the Royal Albert Hall in London (tickets are available at Livenation).

Hublot will be making 12 one-off watches for an accompanying charity auction to support the event. Each of the 12 watches will have one of Depeche Mode's album covers on the dial. The watches will most likely be a Hublot Big Bang modified specially for the one-of-a-kind watches. While images of the watches haven't been seen yet, we can imagine how cool they will be.

In all likelihood the watches will be auctioned off as a set. Meaning that one lucky auction bidder will be able to own the entire collection of 12 watches - a perfect collector's item for the ultimate fine watch, and Depeche Mode music fan. Both Hublot and Depeche Mode are excited about the collaboration - and I can't wait to see what the watches looking sometime next year.

The latest charity effort by a celebrity puts together Charlize Theron and Toms Shoes in a project to aid her home country of South Africa. Her version of the classic slip-on cloth Toms shoe features an African baobab tree and a custom lining with the Africa Outreach Project logo. The vegan-friendly shoes sell for $54 and will benefit the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, which seeks to improve the lives of teenagers in South Africa. Also 10,000 pairs of the shoes will be given to impoverished children living in remote communities in South Africa. The shoes have proved popular, they are already backordered.

In the short-lived world of professional sports Jamie Moyer is a bit of a legend. He has spent 22 seasons in Major League Baseball and will enter the 2010 season as the oldest pitcher in the game at the age of 47. Moyers and his wife, Karen are extremely active off the field as well. Together they founded The Moyer Foundation which has a mission to provide comfort and support to children enduring a time of profound physical, emotional or financial distress. The Moyer Foundation has raised more than $19 million to assist over 200 different non-profit organizations that serve the needs of children in severe distress. The Moyer Foundation created and funds Camp Erin, the largest national network of bereavement camps for children and teens.

The Moyer Foundation, founded by MLB pitcher Jamie Moyer and his wife, Karen, are joining together with The Mario Batali Foundation to present their "Super Bowl Super Brunch" on Saturday, February 6th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Viceroy Hotel in Miami. This brunch has tickets priced at $1,000 and will be hosted by the Moyers and Batali, with honorary celebrity co-chairs - Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Buffett and Emeril Lagasse. Other guests will include professional athletes and sports personalities. The afternoon will feature a gourmet brunch designed by Batali, wine and specialty cocktails, cooking demonstrations by Batali and Lagasse, live entertainment and a silent auction. Proceeds from the special event will benefit The Moyer Foundation's Camp Erin[TM] program and The Mario Batali Foundation.

Charity Folks is also holding an auction that includes two tickets to the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami, Florida on Sunday, February 7, two tickets to the Super Brunch and hotel accommodations at the Viceroy Hotel Miami in one room for two people are included for February 4 - February 8, 2010. Bidding was at $5,500 last time I looked. Proceeds from this auction also benefits the Mario Batali Foundation and the Moyer Foundation.

It's a holiday phenomenon that warms the heart. Each December, the Salvation Army kettles and bell ringers come out and the stories of rare coins being dropped into kettles begin. So far this season I've watched them come in from Tennessee, Indiana, Washington and other places.

So what's the deal with all the rare coins? I asked Donn Pearlman, a spokesman for the Professional Numismatists Guild and a former Chicago journalist and broadcaster who reported over the years on many of the early gold coin donations to the Salvation Army about the annual appearance of gold coins in the collection kettles. He says that the tradition of people generously and anonymously putting gold coins into Salvation Army kettles began in December 1982 when someone placed five, one-ounce South African Krugerrands into a kettle at a shopping mall in the Chicago suburb of Crystal Lake, Illinois. Krugerrands or Canadian Maple Leaf gold coins subsequently were dropped into a kettle at that same location every December for the next five years, spurring stories about the phantom philanthropist and the Salvation Army's Christmas-time fund-raising efforts.

Bvlgari finished off its 125th anniversary year in style at Christie's New York with an auction to benefit Save the Children. To close out its 125th anniversary year, the jeweler hosted a star-studded crowd at the auction house and put 11 incredible jewelry lots and seven timepieces up for sale. Stars in attendance included Morgan Fairchild, Rose Byrne, Jessica Lange and Ricky Martin, who posed with model Esther Canadas. Bvlgari raised a total of $1,546,500 including $270,000 for the diamond Lucea choker seen in the gallery below. The company will be working with Save the Children again next year.

Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish are cleaning out their closets for a good cause. The pair is holding a wardrobe purge in the form of a pop-up shop at Covent Garden, London, on the former site of the Theatre Museum. The pair amasses quite a bit of clothing and every so often they sell off part of their wardrobes. So far they have raised millions for the Elton John Aids Foundation. According to the London Times, thousands of items of clothing and accessories have been shipped in from the couple's properties around the world for the sale. The booty will include stage costumes created for Sir Elton by Versace and Yohji Yamamoto along with Etro shirts and ties.

Elton John has decided to part with a complete collection of vividly printed silk shirts by Gianni Versace. Other items include dressing gowns, shoes, belts, bags, sunglasses and more, all priced from £30 to as high as £750 for the suits. The shop opens on December 12 and will be restocked daily until everything is sold. On December 19 any unsold items will be marked down to clearance prices.

PACT is back with a new print. The underwear designed to cover your ass while saving it from pollution and other environmental mayhem is out with a new look ... thanks to a little help from Yves Behar and artist Sage Vaughn. Three new prints are coming out, each aligned with a new cause.

Behar designed two of the new prints, which include shells and scales. Ten percent of the sales from these new undies (for men and women) will go to Oceana. The third, designed by Vaughn, is a butterfly print that will support Global Green USA.

"I love the idea of bringing a sense of joy and playfulness to philanthropy and the act of giving," said Vaughn. "Like a tattoo in an unseen place, the intimacy of underwear creates a unique relationship with the art." Before turning to the garments closest to your skin, Vaughn made a name as a painter and graffiti artist. He designed the new PACT print for his wife, Sweet P.

Jeff Denby, co-founder of PACT, says, ""We're thrilled to be working with Sage Vaughn for the Global Green print." He continues, "We're longtime admirers of his work, and his Global Green print is a stunning addition to PACT's collection of bright, bold patterns that capture the heart of the organizations they benefit."

Gucci Launches <I>Snowman in Africa</I> Charity Collection for UNICEFGucci Creative Director Frida Giannini has collaborated with author and illustrator Michael Roberts for the fifth anniversary of the Gucci Campaign to Benefit UNICEF. As in the past, this year's initiative centers around the holiday period promotion of an original collection of items designed by Giannini to be exclusively sold in more than 200 Gucci stores worldwide and on Gucci.com.

Giannini has commissioned acclaimed author and illustrator Roberts to create a sequel to his highly successful 2004 children's book, Snowman in Paradise. The new book, Snowman in Africa, will be exclusively on sale in Gucci stores and on Gucci.com until December 31, 2009. Gucci will donate 100% of the retail price of the book to UNICEF.

Giannini also has designed exclusive Gucci accessories as well as a Gucci Gift Card to benefit UNICEF, all of which are inspired by Roberts' magical book illustrations -- two new medium sized Gucci Joy handbags, symbolic charms, and a wrist wallet and coin purse. The Joy Bags, charms, small leather goods, and gift cards will be on sale in Gucci stores in more than 20 countries until December 31, 2009, and 25% of the retail price of each item will be donated to UNICEF.

The annual Gucci Campaign to Benefit UNICEF has consistently supported education, healthcare, protection, and clean water programs for orphans and children affected by HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. In this five-year period, Gucci has committed more than $7 million to UNICEF.

What do you do when you work at a factory that's been shutdown due to a weak economy? Well, you can sit around and mope. Or you can volunteer your time and skills. Following their earlier art project to benefit cancer research, 59 craftsmen from the Bentley factory in Crewe have opted once again for the latter, and this is the result.

Named Luke, this retired London Routemaster double-decker bus was acquired by St Luke's hospice in Winsford, England, earlier this year. The idea was to transform it into a rolling vehicle for community service and public awareness. The Bentley workers put in some 2000 man-hours of their own free time to bring it to fruition, and the results look very impressive indeed.
