ICON A5

Getting your own plane is a pretty fantastic purchase but what if you could have one for only $139,000. The Icon A5 is a two-seater sport plane that is an amphibious, retractable and fold-able aircraft with the ability to be towed on a trailer behind your car! It even comes with a plane-sized parachute to help ease the landing in an emergency situation. Small enough for a pair to fly and compact enough to keep in an oversized driveway, the Icon A5 will be a welcome creation come 2010 when its available.

Singulum Luxury Laptops

Sure, there's Dell, HP, Gateway and Apple, but what is Singulum? The German-made laptops are for those with a desire for the Midas touch with their 24K gold and ivory keyboards. The opulent computers are wrapped in fine wood cut from a single block and carry the usual technological innards -- Core 2 Duo processor, dual-layer DVD burner, and 15.4 inch LCD screen. Singulum handmade laptops are not for the techie on the go but for the refined connoisseur that wants it to be the first thing people see when they stroll into his or her office.

$800 Speakers = Smaller than a Strawberry

Smaller has always meant better (and more expensive) in the world of technology, and it would seem that it's no different for the world of surround sound speaker systems. Sony's new Bravia Theater Micro System has speakers so small they make me giggle -- they look like something that was experimented on in that old movie Honey I Shrunk the Kids! With side, surround, and a center speaker that each barely measure up to a good sized strawberry, the system claims to sacrifice nothing in the way of sound and everything in the way of cumbersome space-gobbling size. The catch is that the collection's subwoofer is monstrous, but working to hide just the one piece seems like a small (pun intended) price to pay for such an "out of sight, out of mind" sound system. $799.99

The New Jawbone

Jawbone Bluetooth headsets just keep getting sleeker and cooler everyday it seems. Of course we started with the original Jawbone, then they gave us the "Love to Talk" limited edition series, and now they've released the new Jawbone that's sweeter than ever. It's 50% smaller than the original Jawbone design and includes all the usual sound technology, plus it features an "invisible button" system that means the user activates controls by touching the headset's smooth outer surface. Available in gold, silver, and black, the headsets look appropriately updated with a funky 3-D looking diamond pattern and optional matching fine leather earloops. $129.99

"My Dior" Mobile Phone

Christian Dior has branched out into the mobile/cellular phone universe with the "My Dior" phone, by ModeLabs. It took three years to develop the clamshell, which will be available in two versions: a $5,000 basic version and a $26,000 luxury version, which features a 2.6 touch screen with an integrated media player and is decorated with 640 stones of 3,251 carats of Swarovski crystals imprinted on a crocodile skin case. Ringtones are proposed to be Dior's voice as well as music. Look for marketing to begin this month. This phone is just beautiful, but I'd be terrified of dropping or losing it!

The Uno

There's a new bike in town and it isn't like any you've seen before. The Uno is a visual combination of a unicycle and the Segway -- certainly not your typical motorized bike though. Created by an 18-year-old Canadian, Ben Gulak, that wanted to find a better mode of transportation inspired by a smoggy trip to China, the Uno uses gyroscopic technology, balances automatically, turns on a dime and has only one switch to turn it on and off. It can even be brought indoors to recharge. Any investors out there looking for a great way to impact the environment and add some sweet new wheels to the road, Uno's inventor is waiting...

Lusso Luxury Turntable

Just a few days ago my mother and I were talking about an old turntable at her house, and how none us of use it anymore. Well, if I had the Lusso Luxury Turntable, I would be willing to put away my CDs and iPod, for a few days at least, and dig out my albums.

Designed by German outfit Montegiro, the Lusso is marketed more like a European sports car than a piece of DJ equipment, according to Crunch Gear. This beautiful piece is built upon alternate layers of aluminum and black acrylic, including the topsy-turvy cone for the aluminum platter fitted with an acrylic platter and driven by a newly-developed, precise, high-end synchronous motor suspended within one of the cones. The connected cones have height-adjustable feet for set-up.The tonearm is carbon. All this works together to bring you -- are you ready? -- "a perfect world of sound: Between precise, crystalline highs and weighty bass is a generous, softly melting midrange that helps produce an ideal, musically balanced turntable."

The base version has three cones, a 10'' carbon arm from Da Vinci (model Nobile), the MG1 from the Montegiro family and a state-of-the-art pickup-system in titanium. The top-of-the-line model comes with four cones and two tonearms and includes a 9'' SME, model 5009 tonearm.

This musical piece of art will set you back €30,000, or about $47,000.

SOLo Lounge Table Makes Solar Chic

I came across this ultra-chic, tech-driven table the other day and was amazed to find that it is embedded with solar panels! Although it would probably only make sense to own a table like this in a very sunny environment -- say skylights, all-glassed in room or office, or greenhouse -- but in the right place it would be a fantastic addition to your decor. The SOLO table takes all the solar energy it absorbs and stores it so you can charge your gadgets without having to plug into the wall. And if you are lacking a super -sunny space in your home or office, you can always place it outdoors since this amazing table is weatherproof! Business, green energy and style are accomplished on one hot surface. (MSRP $14,000)

Laptop Pillows: Function Meets Funky

At this very moment, a laptop pillow would be divine! I usually travel with my laptop and try to write everywhere I go which many times translates to laptop on lap. Not a bad way to go but it can get a bit toasty. Intelligent Forms Design has thought of a fantastic solution -- laptop pillows! At first I thought it sounded a bit bulky, unstable and again...hot. But their inventive shapes and heat-shielded surface provides comfort and function in one funky shape. Plus, each product is made from sustainable materials and through similar methods... green is in!

Keyless Deadbolt Uses Fingerprint Scanning

If you've ever fumbled with your keys on a dark night or with your hands full of packages (just like those poor women on Lifetime TV who don't quite get safely inside), you need this.

SmartScan from Kwikset offers the first biometric, keyless technology in a deadbolt designed to fit the décor and standard installation on your residential door. This commercial-grade technology uses biometrics to scan your unique fingerprint, down to the subdermal layer, to unlock your deadbolt without a key.

Fingerprints are read, once users "enroll" in the unit, by just swiping a finger under the sensor. If you're having work done in your home, you can change the normal 24/7 family setting to a temporary access setting that sets days of the week for contractors. Control even more with restricted access that sets time and days of the week, good for regular visitors, such as babysitters or housekeepers. Up to 50 users can be entered, and the administrator can easily enroll or delete users.

This standalone system does not require external wiring and installs like a conventional deadbolt with just a Phillips screwdriver. There's extra security with ANSI Grade 1 security features and back-up key usage. No prices on the Kwikset site, but on Home Depot it's $199.

As seen on The Oprah Winfrey Show. And we know how much Oprah loves her luxury items.
